Trillium at Tryon Creek

I came across this beautiful Oregon native while walking in Tryon Creek State Park.  Several species of Trillium contain chemical compounds called sapogenins that have been used medicinally though the ages as astringents, coagulants, expectorants, and uterine stimulants. They are subject to pressure from overzealous collectors and habitat loss due to land-use changes.
