This plant is endemic to the Klamath Mountains of southern Oregon and northern California. It grows in the wet forest understory and meadows above 1000 meters in elevation. It is threatened by logging, grazing, and road maintenance and is a candidate for state listing in Oregon, where only a few occurrences remain.
